How does this role fit into the success of our organization?

 

The Dispatcher is responsible for scheduling pickup and delivery of loads, with Motor Carriers, to customers and/or vendors.  The dispatcher is required to work in an office environment frequently communicating with carriers, warehouse shipping personnel, sales, and management.  They must be able to clearly articulate verbally, and in writing, the shipment priorities and status.  The dispatcher is required to update computer systems with information and may be required to generate reports for management.

 

This position operates out of our Atlanta, GA corporate office and reports to the Transportation Manager - Operations. This role in our Atlanta office is a hybrid role – three days on site and two days to work from home.

 

Some of your responsibilities would include:

  • Keeping accurate records of outstanding loads and load assignments
  • Prioritizing loads using multiple sources of information
  • Ensuring Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and limitations are adhered to
  • Working daily within our SAP and TMS systems
  • Ensuring all stakeholders are informed of shipment statuses, issues, or opportunities
  • Other duties as needed to ensure the success of our organization and the Transportation team

 

What are we looking for?

  • 1 year experience in a relevant shipping, dispatching, or logistics role OR entry-level with a Bachelors in Supply Chain or related degree
  • Experience with SAP and/or TMS is a plus
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly Word and Excel
  • Ability to perform under pressure with a strong sense of urgency
  • Strong communications skills – both written and verbal
  • A Customer-centric mindset
