Position Expectations:

  • Perform daily required duties to ensure quality is met internally and for customers.
  • Perform Quality Assurance testing on finished particleboard samples
  • Communicate with Finishing dept. to ensure sampling requirements are met
  • Support trials & new customer initiatives
  • Analyze test results & trends and communicate with Quality leadership about observations.
  • Put material on hold when it violates specification limits, conduct retesting for questionable lots.
  • Perform all job duties with safety as a top priority.

 

Main Function of the Position:

  • Daily operation of the lab, ensuring all the required testing and data is correct.
  • Write a daily sample schedule for Finishing operators to set aside throughout production.
  • Collect samples from Finishing and cut full panels to a movable size.
  • Cut panel samples at the table saw into test specimens for various tests.
  • Operate the IMAL panel testing machine to meet all testing requirements for various grades of PB.
  • Compare results vs. specifications and targets.
  • Quarantine and retest material which fails to meet specifications.
  • Assist in determining disposition of quality-hold material for defects identified on the production line, such as surface defects.
  • Enter test data to the LIMS system, ensure accuracy, and communicate results to Quality leadership when necessary.
  • Responsible for tracking inventory of consumable lab supplies such as glue and saw blades.
  • Data analysis of KPIs and communication of results.
  • Participate in trials and product development initiatives.
  • Weekly report to Quality leadership showing key indicators for quality pertaining to PB physical properties.
  • Daily participation in the Safe Teams BBS system

Physical Requirements:           

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.  
  • Climbing and working at heights as needed including mobile ladders and aerial platforms.  
  • Bending, squatting, twisting as required.  
  • Ability to lift 50lbs as needed.  
  • Ability to work in both hot and cold weather environments as needed daily.  
  • Must be comfortable moving throughout large manufacturing environment with multiple buildings.  

 

Requirements:

  • Effectively communicate verbally and by e-mail
  • A high school diploma or GED is required 
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Post offer you must be able to pass a drug screen, background check and physical capability assessment.
