How does this role fit into the success of our organization?
The Purchasing Agent ensures the plant has the materials and services it needs to successfully operate. This role reports to the Purchasing Manager and is located in Grayling, MI.
Responsibilities include:
- Follow the full life cycle of the PO through process is expected.
- Assist in developing requirements and specifications (R&S) and statements of work (SOW) by providing information pertaining to potential suppliers, supplier history data, technical/functional data, pricing data and other data necessary to ensure the development of a complete and accurate R&S and/or SOW.
- Provide value added service by constantly striving to find new and better products, sources of supply, and better ways of meeting or exceeding the needs of operations and the functional areas.
- Participate in maintenance and operations planning meetings to ensure early purchasing involvement to drive maximum value.
- Responsible to procure all storeroom stocked and non-stocked items in a timely manner, verifying vendors and costs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Available 5 days/week with increased support through maintenance down days, major outages, and breakdown events.
What are we looking for?
- Knowledgeable
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or supply chain management or equivalent experience.
- CPM/CPSM certification is preferred.
- Experienced
- 3 to 5 years of related experience
- Purchasing experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
- Familiarity with transportation modes, such as parcel, LTL, truckload, air, and courier, is preferred.
- Familiarity with Six Sigma / Lean process improvement is preferred.
- Good command of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint, and SAP/ERP system
- Collaborative
- Ability to deal effectively and consistently with staff, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to complete job responsibilities.
