SUMMARY

 

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Technical Manager is an integral member of the Mill Leadership Team and is responsible for the overall management of quality programs and objectives at the St. Stephen, NB manufacturing site.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Maintain and improve the product quality while balancing costs and production.
  • Provide for and utilize analytical tools and data to support the decision-making process.
  • Facilitate an environment that encourages participation in quality improvement.
  • Identify opportunities for process, system and equipment improvements.
  • Ownership of quality manuals and procedures.
  • Management of Quality Databases (LIMS, QIR, Customer Complaints).
  • Manage customer complaints and testing.
  • Ensure compliance to external certification bodies.
  • Ensure the integrity of document and data control.
  • Address daily quality issues - root causes analysis, troubleshoot, solutions.
  • Oversee QC testing data, data accuracy and trends.
  • Product optimization and development (Trials, R&D).
  • Lab equipment calibration, maintenance and procurement.
  • Facilitate third party testing, data recording, trending as required.
  • Establish continuous improvement initiatives and create plans of action.
  • Manage departmental quality goals, performance metrics, and targets.
  • Follow safe working practices and safety policies. 
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience, including the direct leadership of people.
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or Math.
  • Ability to lead people in a variety of manufacturing activities.
  • Ability to undertake multiple projects and manage key business metrics.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Mathematical aptitude.
  • Strong computer and software skills.
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical equipment operation and process control fundamentals.
  • Self directed: ability to undertake multiple projects and manage key business metrics.
