ARAUCO is looking for an Automation Specialist for its Manufacturing Facility located in Malvern, AR
What is expected of this position?
The Automation Specialist will lead development of automation solutions for manufacturing processes in our Malvern, Arkansas manufacturing facility (on-site position). As a key member of our operations team, you will support PLC and HMI system upgrades and lead continuous improvement efforts utilizing lean six sigma and MPC methodologies.
The main functions of this position include
- Perform or support modifications of PLC automation programs to achieve stability and optimization goals
- Lead the design of automation and process control systems including PCs, PLCs, AC or DC drives and controllers
- Maintain and support the process communications infrastructure (DeviceNet, ControlNet, Ethernet, etc.)
- Perform or support modifications of Human Machine Interface applications.
- Maintain and update documentation for the above systems (loop diagrams, panel drawings, I/O lists, Manual, etc.)
- Ensure disaster recovery measures are maintained for control system servers, logic controllers, software and backups
- Serve as the system administration of the automation control system hardware, network and software
- Provide timely resolution and troubleshooting of technical issues related to instrumentation and automation control systems
- Monitor automation performance against objectives to identify and lead improvement measures for performance below target
- Promote safe work practices and teamwork
- Ensure appropriate training is provided for all employees engaging in automation and process control activities
- Exchange information and data with other mills within the corporation and enforce best-practices for automation and process control
- Facilitate problem solving for root cause failure analysis and subsequent resolution
- Lead analysis and implementation of MPC technologies where appropriate, document stated goals and monitor results
- Support automation projects throughout the corporation as needed.

- Participates in monthly audits
- Drives housekeeping improvements
- Leads by example by following and coaching on safety policies and practices

BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES:
- As assigned and fitting including project justifications
- Timely submission of expense reports
What is required to be successful in this position?
Successful team members are:
- Knowledgeable - 2- or 4-year degree from a technical school in Electrical Engineering preferred. Demonstrated expertise of Allen Bradley programmable logic controllers and I/O. Strong knowledge of PLCs and HMIs
- Experienced - Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the maintenance of an automated manufacturing environment preferred. Experience with Citect, SCADA or Viejo preferred
