How does this role fit into the success of our organization?

  • Perform or support modifications of PLC automation programs to achieve stability and optimization goals.
  • Lead the design of automation and process control systems including PCs, PLCs, AC or DC drives and controllers.
  • Maintain and support the process communications infrastructure (DeviceNet, ControlNet, Ethernet, etc.)
  • Lead analysis and implementation of MPC technologies where appropriate, document stated goals and monitor results.
  • Provide timely resolution and troubleshooting of technical issues related to instrumentation and automation control systems.
  • Monitor automation performance against objectives to identify and lead improvement measures for performance below target.

What are we looking for?

  • Knowledgeable
    • 2- or 4-year degree from a technical school in Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Experienced
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the maintenance of an automated manufacturing environment preferred.
    • Knowledge and demonstrated expertise of Allen Bradley programmable logic controllers and I/O.
    • Strong knowledge of PLCs and HMIs.
    • Experience with Citect, SCADA or Viejo preferred.
    • Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
    • Experience with CAD and SAP is a plus.
    • Certified Controls System Technician (CCST) a plus.
    • Experience in Statistical Process Control with Lean Six Sigma methodologies preferred.
  • Effective
    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
    • Must be able to work both independently and as a team member.
    • Excellent people and leadership skills.
    • Excellent computer and software skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Collaborative
    • Collaboration is key to Arauco’s success. This role requires collaboration with our maintenance and mill teams to be successful.
  • ​​​​​​​Physical Requirements 
    •  Ability to move freely throughout the facility, including climbing stairs and ladders, and navigating around equipment and machinery. 

    • Ability to bend, stoop, and crouch as necessary to inspect and maintain equipment. 

    • Capability to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. 

    • Ability to perform physical tasks that involve lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying heavy objects. 

    • Endurance to stand and walk for extended periods, often in environments with dust, chemicals, high noise levels and varying temperatures
