How does this role fit into the success of our organization?
- Perform or support modifications of PLC automation programs to achieve stability and optimization goals.
- Lead the design of automation and process control systems including PCs, PLCs, AC or DC drives and controllers.
- Maintain and support the process communications infrastructure (DeviceNet, ControlNet, Ethernet, etc.)
- Lead analysis and implementation of MPC technologies where appropriate, document stated goals and monitor results.
- Provide timely resolution and troubleshooting of technical issues related to instrumentation and automation control systems.
- Monitor automation performance against objectives to identify and lead improvement measures for performance below target.
What are we looking for?
- Knowledgeable
- 2- or 4-year degree from a technical school in Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Experienced
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the maintenance of an automated manufacturing environment preferred.
- Knowledge and demonstrated expertise of Allen Bradley programmable logic controllers and I/O.
- Strong knowledge of PLCs and HMIs.
- Experience with Citect, SCADA or Viejo preferred.
- Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Experience with CAD and SAP is a plus.
- Certified Controls System Technician (CCST) a plus.
- Experience in Statistical Process Control with Lean Six Sigma methodologies preferred.
- Effective
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
- Must be able to work both independently and as a team member.
- Excellent people and leadership skills.
- Excellent computer and software skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
- Collaborative
- Collaboration is key to Arauco’s success. This role requires collaboration with our maintenance and mill teams to be successful.
- Physical Requirements

Ability to move freely throughout the facility, including climbing stairs and ladders, and navigating around equipment and machinery.

Ability to bend, stoop, and crouch as necessary to inspect and maintain equipment.

Capability to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Ability to perform physical tasks that involve lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying heavy objects.

Endurance to stand and walk for extended periods, often in environments with dust, chemicals, high noise levels and varying temperatures
