Summary

Shipping Technician to safely and efficiently locate and load product on trucks and rail cars per customer orders. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Load all types of trucks, railcars, boxcars and preloads per orders
  • Inspect every load for quality
  • Assist with checking in trucks and communicate loading procedure
  • Assist with answering the shipping phone and helping callers
  • Keep loading area and truck warehouse clean
  • Keep forklift clean and maintained (inspected)
  • Diagram box cars, clean-out boxcars and check cars for damage, and maintain railroad log book
  • Actively participate in any problem-solving meetings and positively contribute to improving the process on a daily basis
  • Communicate verbally and by e-mail
  • Understanding of load weights for trucks and proper load placements
  • Ability to identify quality issues and react to them accordingly
  • Maintain forklift certification

  • Expected to work toward a competent operating level whereby the operator has a more intimate understanding of the equipment to troubleshoot and problem-solve more complex issues. 

 

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year Forklift experience required (within past 5 years)
  • Effectively communicate verbally and by e-mail
  • A high school diploma or GED is required 
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Strong computer skills are desired.  Good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel are an asset.  
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Able to work a rotating shift (days, afternoons and nights) if required
  • Post offer you must be able to pass a drug screen, background check and physical capability assessment.
