Join our team as a Chipper/Debarker Utility and begin your career earning $20.68 per hour.

 

This role will be working a rotating 12 hour shift 9am – 9pm during the weekdays and 5am-5pm on weekends. Workdays rotate consistently each week; rotate between working 3 12-hour days and 4 12-hour days a week along with 2 weekends off a month.

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in manufacturing or production operations, preferably in the wood products industry
  • Experience operating heavy equipment
  • Ability to understand and interpret technical manuals and diagrams
  • Strong mechanical skills and troubleshooting abilities
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality work
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced environment with changing production needs
  • Strong communication skills when working with team members and supervisors
  • Willingness to work shifts, including nights and weekends, when needed

In this role, you would:

  • Operate chipper and debarker machinery to process raw logs into wood chips and debarked logs
  • Monitor equipment performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain optimal operation
  • Ensure consistent material flow to support efficient production
  • Inspect incoming logs for defects or quality issues before processing
  • Confirm that wood chips and debarked logs meet established quality specifications
  • Keep processing areas clear of debris and contaminants to protect equipment
  • Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and basic maintenance, including knife changes and clearing blockages
  • Conduct regular rounds to verify cleanliness and ensure all equipment is functioning properly
  • Operate front-end loaders and skid steers for tasks such as loading trucks, snow removal, and reintroducing material
  • Promptly report mechanical concerns to maintenance personnel
  • Follow all safety procedures to prevent accidents and injuries
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
  • Maintain accurate records of production, downtime, and quality checks
  • Document maintenance activities performed on equipment
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

 

Physical and Safety Requirements:

  • Ability to move throughout the facility, including climbing stairs and ladders
  • Perform tasks involving bending, stooping, and crouching during inspections and maintenance
  • Lift and carry materials or equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Carry out physical activities involving lifting, pushing, pulling, and handling heavy items
  • Stand and walk for extended periods in environments with dust, chemicals, high noise, and variable temperatures
  • Demonstrate safe work practices and proper use of required PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, and safety footwear
  • Follow all safety policies and maintain a clean, orderly workspace
  • Maintain required certifications, including lockout/tagout
  • Participate in safety programs and report incidents or near‑misses
  • Document and address abnormal conditions or procedures in accordance with established protocols
  • Support environmental stewardship across all work areas
