This role is a 8 hour day shift position with on-call rotation.
What we are looking for:
- Two-year Degree in Mechanical studies.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 5+ years industrial mechanic experience required (including bearings, hydraulics, pumps, gearboxes)
- Industrial welding, fabrication, and mechanical troubleshooting experience
- Experience in reliability techniques & knowledge of lubrication principles
- Hydraulic system aptitude and system maintenance best practices
- Ability to perform precision maintenance practices to improve asset reliability (i.e. read and follow instructions, ability to measure bearing and shaft fits, use of torque wrench, use of V-belt tension meter, laser alignment)
- Understand and read hydraulic and mechanical drawings
- Strong, demonstrated troubleshooting skills and ability to understand and execute preventative maintenance plans
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.

In this role, you will:
- Respond to mill breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner and working closely with area operators to resolve maintenance-related issues
- Responsible for taking your safety and the safety of your co-workers as the primary consideration when performing work
- Lead the troubleshooting and proper documentation (SAP Notifications) of all maintenance-related items
- Complete assigned work orders or other PM/PdM activities as assigned.
- Maintain Maintenance Logbook ensuring it is current at the end of each shift.
- Take ownership of assigned Area and show support for the Area Management initiative within the mill. This includes knowing the downtime, quality and safety issues in your Area and work to resolve them.
- Daily interaction with Area Operators and PIC’s to know and address their issues.
- Interface with Area Planner to coordinate down day & daily work schedules.
- Check the ‘Action Log’ daily and work with the Area Planner to get items in your Area resolved.
- Investigate the root cause of equipment failure and make recommendations for long term fix.
- Seek to continually improve skill-set (with vendor training, web based training, seminars, etc).
- Attend and participate in maintenance crew meetings and other group functional meetings and training.
- Support the Asset Reliability Process (ARP) as it is rolled out. This includes Area Management, Planning & Scheduling, Daily Schedules, etc.
- Wear radio and respond to issues in your area when needed. Let operations and peers know about changes made while on shift.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to move freely throughout the facility, including climbing stairs and ladders, and navigating around equipment and machinery.
- Ability to bend, stoop, and crouch as necessary to inspect and maintain equipment.
- Capability to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform physical tasks that involve lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying heavy objects.
- Endurance to stand and walk for extended periods, often in environments with dust, chemicals, high noise levels and varying temperatures
