Job Summary                                                                                                                                             

The primary purpose of this position is to respond to all maintenance electrical issues and upset conditions and strive to increase overall mill reliability safely and efficiently.

 

Position Responsibilities                                                                                                                        

  • Respond to mill breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner
  •  Complete assigned work orders and support operations during upset condition.
  •  Work closely with area operators to resolve maintenance related issues.
  •  Responsible for shift pass down to oncoming technicians  
  • Maintain Electrical Logbook and keep it current at the end of each shift 
  • Understand and support the area maintenance initiative
  •  Assist in developing PMs for your area of responsibility
  •  Know the downtime issues in your area and work to resolve them
  • Daily interaction with Area Operators and PIC’s. Read logbooks to know and address their issues.
  • Resolve quality & safety issues in your Area
  • Communicate maintenance issues to Operators, Supervisors, Planners, and peers directly or via email.
  • Interface with Area Planner to get down day & daily work scheduled
  • Work with other crafts & operators to increase uptime reliability.
  • Assist other crafts during breakdowns.
  • Work with the Area Planner to get items in your Area resolved
  • Investigate the root cause of equipment failure and make recommendations for long term fix.
  • Enter appropriate work requests for required follow-up work.
  • Complete assigned work orders or other PM/PdM activities as assigned and return completed paperwork.
  • Attend/Participate in maintenance crew meetings and other group functional meetings/training.
  • Support the team to resolve process related issues and during process upset conditions.
  • Wear radio and respond to issues in your area when needed. Let operations and peers know about changes made while on shift

 

Key safety responsibilities include:

  • Must place safety as the first priority demonstrating safe working behaviors at all times and be a model for proper PPE use to include wearing a hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, and other PPE as required.
  • Demonstrates through use and participation the understanding of all required safety policies and procedures.
  • Works actively to maintain housekeeping responsibilities.
  • Maintains lockout certifications as assigned
  • Responsible for taking personal safety and the safety of others as the primary consideration when performing work
  • Responsible for completing safety work orders in a timely fashion based on clear understanding of priority
  • Lead the process of shutting down a piece of equipment or area that you believe poses a potential safety concern to those working in the area or may result in serious equipment damage

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities                                                                                          

Required experiences include:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required 
  • Post-Secondary mechanical/electrical education or trade education preferred
  • Three years AC & DC motor control experience (including drives) preferred
  • Two to Three years PLC experience preferred
  • Three years electrical troubleshooting experience preferred
  • Ability to use multi-meter
  • Ability to meg AC/DC motors
  • Familiarity of wire sizing
  • Experience using MS Office and Outlook preferred.
  • Experience in the use of a CMMS preferred.
  • Experience in Industrial Manufacturing facility preferred
  • Proven ability to be self-motivated
  • Ability to work extended hours and rotating shift as required
  • Ability to work at heights in a manufacturing environment required

 

Physical Requirements                                                                                                                           

  • Climbing and working at heights as needed including mobile ladders and aerial platforms.
  • Bending, squatting, twisting as required.
  • Ability to work with tools, and ability to lift from 0 to 50lbs as needed.
  • Ability to walk around mill regularly and as needed checking on equipment.
  • Ability to work in both hot and cold weather environments as needed daily.
  • Must be comfortable moving throughout large manufacturing environment with multiple buildings
