Are you a dedicated risk professional looking for a rewarding career in a dynamic 24/7 manufacturing environment. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Risk Coordinator to lead operations in areas of fire and emergency risk prevention, fire protection system maintenance, and proper root cause determination and corrective action implementation. This role reports directly to the Maintenance Manager and is based at our site in Albany, OR.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • High school diploma required.
  • 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting required.
  • Experience with fixed and non-fixed fire suppression systems in an industrial environment required.
  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Fire Science is preferred
  • Computer skills are desired. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel are an asset.
  • Experience with confined space rescue, fire hoses, building sprinkler systems and risers, and experience as a volunteer/paid fireman (Preferred)
  • Certified Fire Protection Specialist, Certified Fire Inspector I or II or other NFPA certifications (Preferred)
  • Experience with Atex, Fenwal, Grecon, Minimax, Flamex, or PyroGuard fire detection systems (Preferred)
  • OSHA 10 or 40 courses (Preferred) 

Physical Requirements:

  • Climbing and working at heights, vertical ladders, mobile ladders and Manlift.
  • Tools, heavy pipe wrench work, pipefitting, lifting, carrying.
  • Cold and Hot weather exposures when trouble shooting and maintaining fire systems.
  • Ability to move freely throughout the facility, including climbing stairs and ladders, and navigating around heavy equipment and machinery
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and crouch as necessary to inspect and maintain equipment
  • Ability to perform physical tasks that involve lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying heavy objects.
  • Endurance to stand and walk for extended periods, often in environments with dust, chemicals, high noise levels, and varying temperatures

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain site Fire System maintenance records, inspections reports and procedures, Fire System trouble and supervisory log with corrective actions.
  • Oversee daily and scheduled maintenance day support to maintenance staff issuing hot work permits, preparing job sites for hot work, audit and follow up on outstanding hot work permits.
  • Provide training to staff on the hazards of wood dust and methods for fire prevention and become the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on all Technician Hands on Activities.
  • Administrate and maintain compliance on all fire systems outside contractor activities.
  • Liaison with vendors as needed for system troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Facilitate repairs and replacement of defective components. Ex. sprinkler and deluge system, Fire Pumps, standpipe, pump controllers, water flow and tamper devices.
  • Coordinate and oversee inspection, maintenance, and service (water requirements) to ensure all weekly, monthly, quarterly, biannual, and annual testing protocol on Sprinklers, PIV’s, Hydrants, and Fire Pumps is completed.
  • Required to conduct both routine and emergency services after normal work periods.
  • Manage all insurance audits and capital as it pertains to risk and fire standard.
  • Provide regular reporting on action items and data to support maintenance teams and mill leadership.
